A broken chain explodes apart within a steady, watchful eye—a symbol of the moment when what once held her no longer has the power to keep her bound.
Unlike the tears of grief found in other pieces in this series, the eye in What She Survived is dry. She has cried her tears. She has carried the weight. She has endured what others may never fully know. What remains is strength.
Light breaks through the center of the shattered chain, representing freedom, healing, and the realization that surviving is more than simply making it through the darkness—it is discovering that the darkness no longer defines you.
The scars of the past may remain, but the chains do not.
What She Survived is a tribute to resilience, to battles fought quietly, and to every person who can finally look back and say, “It did not break me.”
