The piece is arranged as a visual collage, with each scene representing a sacred moment connected by spiritual meaning.
A woman quietly drinking from a small cup. "As to our lips the cup, gently we press," is a verse out of a hymn, "Jesus of Nazareth". As she drinks the water representing the Saviors blood he sacrificed for us, her closed eyes and gentle posture suggest reverence, remembrance, and personal communion—an intimate connection between the viewer and the Savior’s sacrifice.
In the upper left, Christ is shown in the Garden of Gethsemane, bowed in prayer beneath the night sky, embodying anguish, surrender, and divine obedience. Opposite this, Christ on the cross is surrounded by light-filled clouds, symbolizing sacrifice, atonement, and hope through resurrection.
Nearby, the empty tomb with folded burial cloths stands as a powerful declaration of victory over death, emphasizing renewal, promise, and eternal life.
Soft clouds and textured stone visually tie the scenes together, creating a dreamlike, reverent atmosphere. The overall composition invites the viewer to move through Christ’s journey—from suffering, to sacrifice, to resurrection—and finally inward, toward personal reflection and faith as we take the Sacrament.
The artwork speaks to themes of devotion, covenant, and quiet testimony, offering a visual meditation on the Savior’s love and the personal relationship each believer can have with Him.
